Climb Designer offers an innovative approach to creating climbing routes through Augmented Reality (AR), enabling users to design routes that can be easily viewed by anyone with an iOS device, even without the app installed, via the web-based Climb Designer site.

The platform provides a diverse selection of hold types and wall configurations, allowing for extensive customization. For users equipped with LiDAR-enabled phones, it is possible to generate environmental scans to better visualize the climber’s setting.

To add a hold, a semi-transparent version of the hold appears as a guide; tapping on the screen will place the hold at that position.

Switching to different holds, volumes, or walls can be accomplished by tapping the paintbrush icon to browse available options. Selecting an item sets it as your active choice. Long-pressing a hold displays an enlarged preview.

Adjusting the color or material of a hold is achieved by tapping the color dropper icon to access the color picker. Tapping on a material applies it, and long-pressing offers a larger view for better inspection.

Rotating a hold involves selecting it (indicated by a ring around the hold) and performing a two-finger rotation gesture.

Resizing a hold is done by selecting it and pinching with two fingers to scale it up or down.

Moving an existing hold can be performed by long-pressing on it to pick it up, then tapping again to place it in the new position.

The start and finish tags for route endpoints are managed by tapping the tag icon on specific holds. To alter a tag’s color, long-press the icon to bring up the color picker and select your preferred hue.

Ahold can be re-selected by double-tapping it, allowing for modifications such as changing its color or attributes.

Removals are straightforward: selecting a hold and pressing the remove button deletes it. To remove all holds at once, long-press this button and confirm the action in the prompt.

Undoing your last action is facilitated by swiping left across the screen, while a right swipe will redo any undone steps, providing flexible editing control.

For viewing in full-screen mode, tap the glasses icon; tapping again returns you to editing view.

When satisfied with your route design, you can upload it for public sharing by tapping the upload icon. You will need to log in or register if you are not already signed in. After authentication, enter relevant details such as route name, description, estimated difficulty, optional location, and confirm to upload.

Collaborative creation with friends is supported: both users should ensure they have the latest app version. Once both have opened their apps, they will automatically detect each other. The host can share their scene via a banner at the top of the screen, enabling synchronized work within a shared 3D environment.
